Héctor was born in Papantla, Veracruz, México and he was in his early twenties when he moved to the US with an English language proficiency of zero. He obtained his undergraduate degree while he began teaching himself English. After earning a graduate degree and working at the University of Houston he now serves the public in the diverse Spanish speaking and Latinx descend communities as a librarian in northern California while getting a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University. He is also a professional translator and interpreter and continues collaborating with CMALS.
