The Original Ninfa’s on Navigation 2704 Navigation Blvd., Houston, TX 77003 Established 1973 “Mama” Ninfa Laurenzo created Ninfa’s after the death of her husband, John. She started by grilling skirt steak and serving it in tortillas from her family’s tortilla factory. “Tacos al Carbon” (later became known as “Fajitas”) and Ninfa’s grew to be an icon in the city and part of the history of Tex-Mex cuisine. As their influence grew, the Laurenzo family contributed significantly to the Latino community.
