Since 1990 Aerosol Warfare has been supporting the works of graffiti artists in Houston. In 2000, Aerosol Warfare opened its gallery to display the work of 500+ artists. Artist, Mario E. Figueroa, Jr., (aka Gonzo247), a founder of Aerosol Warfare and pioneer in Houston's graffiti art, is one of Houston's most recognized artists, locally, nationally, and internationally. Gonzo draws his inspiration from hip hop and artist Leo Tanguma, as he strives to educate the community through civic engagement and advocacy projects.

Artist Mario E. Figueroa Jr., artistically known as GONZO247, spray painted this work with bright contrasting colors and agitated lines that echo the streets of Downtown Houston and give the illusion that one could walk right into the streets that it renders. Occupying an entire wall the mural embraces the viewer by grabbing his/her attention with the vibrancy of its colors and the sensation of its form. At the same time, it guides the viewers eyes to the iconic representation of the Houston cityscape on the horizon, with the letters “HOUSTON is inspired” below the horizon. The work was produced during the Greater Houston Convention and Business Bureau’s campaign “Houston Is Inspired” to call attention to Houston’s culinary and art scene.

In 2018, Houston graffiti artist GONZO247, founder and curator of Aerosol Warfare, donated his talent to designing and installing a mural for one of the Jack J. Valenti School of Communication classroom (COM 244). The artwork spans three walls and has become the largest mural in the building. “The mural is to represent the different fields and majors within this school and how the common goal is to teach someone different ways to communicate,” said GONZO247.
