BakerRipley connects low-income families and individuals to opportunity so they can achieve the life they’ve imagined. It works to strengthen community engagement, improve financial well-being, and increase educational attainment in every community served. Through services, such as immigration, tax, and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, the Baker Ripley supports residents in the Southwest Houston neighborhoods and families with children attending local schools.

Commissioned by the Houston East End Chamber of Commerce and located at the Baker Ripley community center, this art cube by Sylvia Blanco features the famous Tejano artist Selena Quintanilla at her 1995 Rodeo Houston performance. The artist says her first thought was to paint Selena. “She was the queen of Tejano music,” Blanco says. “She was and still is loved by many.” There are seven Selena murals you can see around Houston.
