Elevate Heart

A character lifts a heart high above its head, uniquely and repeatedly. Through a technique of erasure, sketched lines are drawn and erased in perpetuity in this animated artwork leaving behind traces that accumulate into abstract compositions.

Commissioned by Art Blocks as part of their Explorations series, Marfa Yucca juxtaposes algorithmically generated soaptree yucca plants with Donald Judd inspired arrays of cubes. In this generative edition, combinations of this idea are iterated into unique variations with different quantities of cubes arranged in a grid.

Really Random Rock

Really Random Rock

In Really Random Rock, a custom algorithm follows a series of clearly defined rules and steps in order to produce a drawing of a rock. With randomness injected into the rule system, each rock turns out differently. The output is then sent to a pen plotting device to physically draw the resulting image with pen on paper.

Bosque De Chapultepec

Drawing from memory of my grandfather and inspired by Garibaldi pastries, Bosque De Chapultepec constructs visions of Mexico City's famous central park using an algorithmic process that places colored circles into shapes resembling trees, path, and sky.
