Fundado 1979 por Nicolas Kanellos
Imprenta Arte Público es la primera editorial de literatura hispana. En 1992 se lanzó el Programa Recuperando la Herencia Literaria Hispana de Estados Unidos para recuperar, indexar y publicar escritos latinos del período colonial hasta 1960. En 1994, se creó Piñata Books, una huella bilingüe de literatura. Imprenta Arte Público es ahora la editorial más grande del país de literatura de autores hispanos de EE. UU.
