George Bush Intercontinental Airport

Aeropuerto Intercontinental de Houston

Houston Intercontinental Airport opened in June 1969. The airport name was changed in 1997, named for George H. W. Bush, the 41st President of the United States. In 2017, IAH became the first airport in North America to have nonstop flights to every inhabited continent. In 2018, the airport was the 47th busiest airport in the world, and the 14th busiest airport in the United States. Since 1999, the Houston Airport System is fortunate in having one of the largest collections of public art in the state of Texas. Placed throughout the airport’s terminals and grounds, artworks include everything from sculptures to photographs, predominantly by Texas-based artists.
