Arte Público Press is the first publisher of Hispanic literature. In 1992 it launched the Recovering the US Hispanic Literary Heritage Program to recover, index and publish Latino writings from the American colonial period through 1960. In 1994, it created Piñata Books, a bilingual imprint of Hispanic literature for children and young adults. Arte Público Press is now the nation’s largest and most celebrated publisher of contemporary and recovered literature by U.S. Hispanic authors.
