As a first-generation Mexican American and Houston native, Marisela is the youngest of seven daughters and the first in her family to graduate from a university. Marisela has built her career in education and research in her community. Her passion and dedication to her learning and work stem from the experiences of her parents and sisters. Marisela loves Houston so much. She acquired her Bachelor’s in History, Master’s in Education, and Doctorate in Education at the University of Houston, and is currently the Associate Director at the Center for Mexican American & Latino/a Studies.
