Introspection of Self Reflection @ Clarewood Dr.

Sylvia Blanco created Introspection of Self-Reflection. Her artwork is drenched in ethereal imagination and Latin heritage, Blanco’s art is a transcendent look at what it means to make the unconventional eye-catching. Blanco contributed to The Gulfton Story Trail, which is an immersive art experience that invites you—the explorer—to discover the neighborhood’s many cultures and voices. Blanco’s Introspection of Self-Reflection is based on Emmanuel Nwaobi’s poem, Ego For Thought. While tasked to interpret the poem, Blanco seized the opportunity to honor the community. Considering the Central and South American population that does not get highlighted, she incorporated the flags and symbolism of Latin American countries. Through vibrant colors, Blanco emphasized the richness of Latino culture in Houston’s Gulfton neighborhood. “Mythologies employ symbols that differ based on the from which they first occurred.”
