The Gulfton Story Trail Mural

5919 Rampart St., Houston, TX 77081

The Gulfton Story Trail is a captivating art experience that invites you—the explorer—to discover the neighborhood’s many cultures and voices. Often the first home for immigrants and refugees coming to Houston, the story of Gulfton is one of family, fortitude and possibilities. Nestled in between Gulfton’s global cuisines and eclectic shops are 12 inspiring murals, 5 of which are painted by Latino artists. Each vibrant piece is multidimensional, born from poetry written by Gulfton students, expressed visually by muralists, and experienced by residents and visitors, blending Gulfton’s stories with their own. Leon’s and Arzú’s “World’s Collide” is based on Rael Memnon’s poem titled “6:06 a.m.”

“this is the perfect time…not too dark…

Not too light.

Dark enough to see the moon. But light enough to hear birds chirping.

“Isn’t life so beautiful?” You think.”
