Local artist Sylvia “Donkeemom” Roman, mother of fellow Houston street artist Alex “Donkeeboy” Roman Jr., created the mural, which features the Lake Jackson-born singer and her band, Los Dinos, after the streaming giant Netflix asked U.S. and Mexican artists to translate Selena’s inspiration in the form of a mural. Donkeemom, whose real name is Sylvia Roman, created the piece in conjunction with "Selena: The Series." The nine-episode first season is one of the most-watched titles on Netflix. "Only in my dreams did I ever imagine to be part of something like this," Roman said. "Selena and her family have given so much to my culture that it feels incredible to pay homage to them with my art."
