Lawndale Art Center 4912 Main St, Houston, TX 77002 Founded 1979 by James Surls Lawndale Art Center is located in Houston’s Museum District in a building designed by Joseph Finger. It is a contemporary art center that engages Houston communities with exhibitions and programs of Houston artists that explore the aesthetic, critical, and social issues of our time. More than twenty exhibitions, informal talks and special events are offered yearly including annual events such as Dia de los Muertos.
